Thom Browne named official tailor to FC Barcelona
During his last menswear show, Thom Browne paraded his outlandish models down a carpet of green grass. Now, the American brand is turning its sartorial attention to other pastures.
Thom Browne will be the official dresser of the FC Barcelona team from the 2018-2019 season, providing the team’s off-field tailored and formalwear uniforms during away games. The Catalan club, which was previously dressed by Italian brand Replay, has signed the partnership for three seasons.
"I have always felt that world class athletes are the best role models and truly inspiring. The image of the players in the uniforms show true confidence and individuality that will inspire the youth of today," said Thom Browne, in a press release.
By linking with the Spanish football club, the brand, which in 2016 was acquired by Sandbridge Capital, will increase its international exposure.
The club boasts a global fan base of 315 million.
